The festival proves to be one of the unmissable moments of Bergamo’s summer.

Chile, Georgia, the Czech Republic, and Algeria. These are the four countries of origin of the international folk groups that animated the traditional “International Festival of Folklore and Traditions” organized by the Ducato di Piazza Pontida for the 2022 edition, now in its 38th year. For 38 years, the Ducato has been responsible, on behalf of the Municipality of Bergamo, for organizing a festival that was only interrupted by the pandemic. Over time, the Ducato has hosted more than 140 folk groups in Bergamo, bringing our city and province to life for over 4,300 young people from around the world. Local culture and tradition make a territory and its people unique, but at the same time connect them to all other similar realities worldwide: everyone treasures something precious and finds joy in sharing it with others. Cultural identity is alive and open to encounter: we must continue to preserve it if we want it to have a future.
